For those over 12, lenses can also be useful for aesthetic and practical reasons. Indeed, children may be reluctant to wear glasses. Both bothered by the gaze of their friends and during their sporting activities (swimming, athletics, boxing, etc.), lenses can make life easier for your little ones. Contact lenses are therefore a good alternative to glasses for your children.
For children under 12 years old, wearing lenses may prove to be more effective than wearing glasses in cases of very severe vision problems.
In all cases, wearing lenses requires authorization from the ophthalmologist. The optician cannot under any circumstances advise the wearing of lenses without this authorization.
What type of lenses?
There are two types of contact lenses: soft lenses and hard lenses. The flexible ones can be daily, bi-monthly or monthly. The rigid ones must be renewed every year or every two years. To find out what is best for your child, do not hesitate to seek the advice of your ophthalmologist. Your optician will give you tips to make fitting the lenses easier.
Are my child's lenses reimbursed?
Yes. Depending on the visual disorder, health insurance funds provide reimbursement. Your complementary health insurance will reimburse you for the rest according to the terms of your contract. Your Acuitis optician can help you with your efforts.
