Empower my child

How to make your child responsible for wearing glasses?

Your child has received his glasses, it's time to teach him how to wear them as often as possible and how to take care of them!

And first of all, make him understand that glasses are a fragile object. Children's glasses are suitable and often have hinges and flexible branches, but this is not a reason to drop them on the ground, at the risk of scratching the lenses, or to store them anywhere. Your child must have his protective case within reach when he no longer wears his glasses. He must store them properly, and clean them from time to time with his chamois cloth. If the glasses are broken or scratched, he must tell you as quickly as possible in order to find a solution with your optician.

He must wear his glasses regularly. Depending on the advice of your ophthalmologist, he will have to wear them from morning to evening, or only at school or for certain activities. Sometimes your child refuses to wear his glasses. You must show patience and communication in order to support him in wearing his mount.

To gradually get him used to wearing his glasses, start by having him wear them during times spent together: during board games, watching his cartoon, while coloring, etc. If he can associate the glasses with positive situations , he will be able to wear them alone and take responsibility for taking care of his eyesight!

Value your child and give them confidence when they use their glasses, they will be more comfortable and this will help improve their well-being. Build up small habits such as teaching him to take care of his glasses, storing them properly in their case when he is not using them and in the evening before going to sleep, wiping them when they are less clean with a cloth adapted.
